Unnoticed Fauna is a video installation that uncovers hidden nature sounds in Singapore’s soundscape, providing a sensory experience of the processes and life in these ecosystems. Through a self-built recording device that records and measures the acoustic activity of the soil, trees, and water surfaces, various audio data are recorded in different nature areas of Singapore.
These audio data are then subsequently programmed into nature-like textures, that react instinctively to every movement, amplifying the bustling of life within these unseen ecosystems. Each generated texture reminds users to pause, slow down and listen to what the soil, trees, and water have to ‘say’, and awaits an unexpected orchestra of sounds that are never heard before.
